Company in consideration of a contribution by the admiralty
of £75,000towards the construction of the proposed deck, ins-
tead of £ 120,000 hitherta demanded. This proposal commende
itself to the Commander in chief whe has recommended its accep-
tance to the Admiralty. Should this be approved, and should
you approve of my action in the matter Sir Paul Chater hopes
se te arrange the financial question as to secure the revers-
ion of the decision of the shareholders and the construction
of the deck, which would be of great importance to the Colony
and to His Majesty's Naval forces in the East.

I see no probability of the area in question being
required for any purpose other than the extension of the decks
at Hunghem.
I request that in the event of your approving of my
action the fact may be communicated to me by telegraph as
